This is a very good HDMI switch. I wasn't entirely sure when it came out, but it lived up to my expectations. This is a 5-port switch, meaning it has 5 inputs (from various devices such as gaming systems, cable or satellite boxes, ROKU, Chrome Cast, etc.) to 1 output (typically your TV). I'm familiar with HDMI switches, I also use a third-party 5-port switch (a price), so this isn't my first Rodeo. This switch is about half the size of my current one, and while the main body of the switch (gold colored part) IS metal, the top and bottom covers and faceplate are plastic, unlike my current device which is all metal. The metal helps reduce external RF interference that can potentially cause digital image distortion. I live very close to towers for several VHF radio stations, a repeater for the local 800Mhz public communications system, and a pager system in a hospital, it's all leaking! Interference can be a big problem for me. I'm happy to report that despite the plastic lids, I haven't had any issues using them so far. This switch comes with everything you need to plug it in and get started right away. You get: 6 HDMI cables, a power cable with USB on one end, an AC to USB power adapter, an IR remote control and of course a 5-port HDMI switch. The only downside I found was that the cables that came with it were a bit short. The power cord is very short, only 3 feet long, which can certainly make it difficult to connect if you need to use an AC to USB power adapter. On the plus side, if any of your devices (TV, cable box, satellite box, home theater receiver, HTPC, ROKU, etc.) have a USB port, you can use that to power the Switch. I hooked it up to my TV and it worked great. The HDMI cables are also a bit short (also 3 feet). So unless all of your components (including the TV) are very close to the HDMI switch, you may need to use alternative HDMI cables. The HDMI cables appear to be of good quality. The jacket of the cable indicates that they are high speed with ethernet (the switch specs don't mention the ability to transmit ethernet and I don't have anything that would let me. The ends of the cable are gold colored but compared to other cables I have which I know are gold plated these look like they are just gold not really gold plated the remote control is extremely handy so you don't have to get up and switch inputs on the box everything is very handy and can was easy to lose It is also an IR remote like almost all other remotes and therefore needs a direct connection to the box. This is another reason why such short cables can potentially make installation difficult.According to the specification, it supports the HDMI standard V1 .4, 3D and 4K Ultra HD I can confirm that it works great for your typical everyday 1080P HD video, but I can't get the aspect s 3D or 4K because I don't have either of those options. Management is simple and clear. Connect your devices to the input ports, connect your TV to the output port. When the device is powered on, there are colored LEDs that show you the status of everything; Blue LED for power and active output port (TV). The input port LEDs have multiple colors: A red LED indicates that a signal is present on that input, but it is not the port you selected. The blue LED indicates that the port has a signal and that it is the currently selected port. No LED indicates no signal or nothing connected to that port. The last feature that I really like and would have liked to see in my other 5 port switch is the smart switching feature. When you plug in or turn on a device and the switch detects a signal on the port, it automatically switches to that input. I personally love this feature, others love it and hate it. Let's say you accidentally turn something on, the switch detects the signal on that input and switches to it, requiring you to manually switch back to the input you were originally using. Luckily, the remote has a "memory" button to help with this. Even if you don't remember which entrance you were at, the switch will remember it and take you back there with a simple push of a button. Overall I think this is a quality product that makes every effort to give you everything. All-round carefree package at a top price. HDMI cables are enough to get the job done, which is really a bonus as most manufacturers don't include them. The only thing I really need to improve is the length of the power cord. This should be at least a 6 foot cable, 3 foot is too short. While it's not really a proprietary power cord, oddly enough, it's not easy to find a longer replacement when you need one. It would just be easier to buy a standard 5V outlet with the right plug on the end than finding a longer USB cable with the right plug like the one that comes with the kit. I received this product free of charge for an honest and unbiased review.
