Review on Dorman C93680 Parking Brake Cable by Jason Franco

May not fit your F150

Those of you who own a 1987-1991 Ford F150 should beware of this parking brake cable. While it is not only listed on the Revain website but also on other reputable auto parts sites as the correct manufacturer application for the above make/model years, a certain design element prevents it from being installed on a vehicle. If you look closely at the pictures at the end of the shroud that fits into the rear brake drum base plate, you will see that there is a "corner" mount that includes both the corner plastic/rubber mounting surface and the rear brake drum also includes the corner clips holding the cable in place after insertion into the baseplate. I went to install the cable on my 1990 rig and found that there was no "corner" surface to accommodate the corner piece of this Dorman cable. It was not possible to install the cable correctly. I suggest sticking with a brand that has a direct shell mount and doesn't include a corner gizmo on that end of the shell.

Pros
  • Flexible housings are fully sleeved to prevent corrosion of internal cables
Cons
  • Not the best option
