I'm an artist manager and one of my artists creates comedy skits for social media platforms. Some of our concepts require voice acting in post-production. My artist used the laptop's built-in microphone for voice overs, and I gave him feedback that the audio wasn't as clear as it should be. We didn't have the budget to buy a quality mic, so we tried a lavalier mic instead. It worked well but still lacked the depth needed for voicing. That's when we stumbled upon the MAONO USB cardioid microphone at Revain for less than $50. We knew we needed a larger, higher-quality mic that would pick up the depth required for voice-over, but we didn't want to pay more than $100 for it. When the MAONO microphone arrived, the first thing that struck us was how well packaged it was. As you can see from the photos all the parts of the microphone have been separated and organized very efficiently. Slots were cut into the package for each piece! This greatly simplified the assembly of the microphone. The microphone came with a boom that could be fixed to a table. It was great and eliminated the need for a mic stand. It also came with a pop filter and foam windscreen to remove vocal blasts from the recording. I was very surprised at how far MAONO went for a sub $50 cardioid mic. We attempted to record our voiceovers and the recordings gave us just the quality we needed to bring certain concepts to life. If you are looking for a cheap microphone for recording sound, this is definitely one of the best options. This is better than using an internal laptop or lavalier mic!
