Bought 2 pairs for informal riding on light glacial ice. The buckles worked well on ice with a slight lean angle (less than 20 degrees). Cons: Straps/buckles feel a bit cheap. They don't seem to be able to withstand extreme violence. The tip is short, so the bite is somewhat limited. The toe straps are pushed far forward so the front tips are actually under the toe of the shoe, not forward (you can't actually do that. Unless you walk across the ice a lot on a hike, it ends up not being if you think so If you ever need an ice ax, spend another $20 on something like CAMP's versatile crampons.
