Fancy stripe pattern on yarn

I bought this yarn on a whim but I like it. I'm recreating the first scarf I knit when I was learning to knit in college. My modern dance teacher had me knit a basic shawl and 2 stitches and back in the 60's I chose black out of all the colours. Sure, my eyesight was much better 60 years ago, but there are always stripes of red, grey, black and mixed colors in this yarn. Very funny and so gentle.
