I used this USB microscope to examine the cantilever and stylus of a stereo pickup. For that it works great. I also looked at some coins. Nice clear picture and you can easily take pictures and save them on your computer. I can clearly see the diamond facets on the needle, which is so small it cannot be seen with a magnifying glass. Now I can see if they are worn out or dirty. At first I thought the needle was badly worn or missing, but it was just covered in dirt. I cleaned it once and could still see the dirt or vinyl still stuck to the needle. After cleaning it again, I could clearly see that the diamond needle was fine, not damaged or worn, and all the dirt was gone. The red button on the side of the microscope wasn't working yet, so I just took one-click photos with the Windows 10 software app. I haven't gotten the red zoom button to work yet either, so I'll have to check inside. Maybe there's a driver on the CD that came with it or something. At the moment I just downloaded the app from their website. So for now I'm just using a combination of the silver power wheel and the right distance to get the focus right. It's a little difficult with the included stand, but not that difficult once you get used to it. I'll probably get the extra best stand for it. A light intensity control is also built into the USB cable, I didn't notice it at first, and it's not marked in the minimum instructions either. And, as the instructions say, don't hit the restart button after installing the software. I did exactly that and I had a permanent circle and then I had to turn off and restart the computer. The next time I hit "Don't restart" it installed and worked right away.
