The same color as the burned wick is difficult to see.
This works great as intended. My only complaint is that it's difficult to see the burned black wick against the black scissors (especially if you like living mostly by candlelight). So if it ever breaks or doesn't cut well, I think I'll replace it with a contrasting color!
