Easy do-it-yourself ice maker door damper replacement

The replacement item is definitely an improvement over the original damper/seal. I have a TFX25 built circa 2000 and the original flapper/seal was very flimsy and lost shape over time. The replacement gasket is much thicker and I doubt it will warp. The only issue I had installing the replacement was that the top hinge had a little more play than the original and it would get stuck and not close when the magnet was released. I fixed this by using a plastic tie made from earbud cord or similar and tying it around the open ends of the two hinged ends. That fixed it and I'm so happy. If this small part doesn't completely close the ice dispenser door, the air flow between the fridge and freezer will be cut off and the temperature of the fridge will not be cold enough, not to mention the possible accumulation of ice inside the ice dispenser chute and freezer coils. It's one of those critical parts that's not covered by the warranty because it's part of the ice maker: even though it's only $8! Once you figure out how to access the part, it becomes an easy task. There are good videos on You Tube. Also, the area around this sash is covered in black mold so it was an opportunity to clean everything up.
