Review on ⚡ Lisle 54150 Battery Terminal & Wiper Arm Puller by Daniel Ton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It works out. It is so easy. (Removing the wiper arm.)

I needed this tool to remove the base of a broken rear wiper arm on a 2013 Buick Enclave from the wiper motor spindle. The wiper arm spindles and bushings are tapered and designed to fit silently once the mounting nut is tightened. As a result, they can be difficult to remove, especially over time. Moisture can cause slight oxidation or corrosion between and on parts, making removal difficult. This tool applies even upward/outward pressure to the base of the wiper arm until it disengages. This tool removed the wiper arm base in 60 seconds. I've seen other reviews complain about the lifting lugs flexing or the pivot arm breaking out of the center bar which puts pressure on the wiper arm spindle. I haven't experienced any of these problems. To avoid such problems, consider the following: (1) Lubricate the joint between the wiper arm base and the wiper motor shaft with penetrating oil or WD40 the day before attempting removal. Maybe a couple of times. Allow time for the penetrant to penetrate the joint between the two parts. I simply wrapped some paper towels around the spindle under the arm to soak up the excess and keep it from getting on the tailgate paint. The tabs of the two pull arms are seated against the spindle/arm base (under the wiper arm base) with a knurled adjustment cone before beginning to tighten the threaded center push rod at the top of the wiper motor shaft. If the cleats are loose, the pressure on the cleats will not be even, which can cause the tips to bend. As you begin to apply pressure to the center column by turning the knob clockwise, do so slowly. Apply even pressure to BOTH ends of the twist grip so the grip is in the center of the compression column. (Too much torque CAN break the relatively thin metal handle on top of the push rod.) Mine popped out after a few slow turns as soon as the center push rod first touched the wiper motor spindle.
