I liked that it was a starter kit. If I were to buy just the "needs" for cross stitch, I would spend more money on individual items than I would on this kit. Scissors don't cut well in my opinion. Needle threaders help a lot. I think the seller of any of these kits should explain that they have a thread that is not a name or brand that we would recognize. There are no numbers on it so I have no idea what thread color is the correct DMC or CXC number. I wouldn't recommend this for a project but for using Aida fabrics to practice while surfing You Tube. When you're ready to undertake a project, buy a trusted brand name that's worth making sure it won't wear out or break. some of my threads from this set already had fuzzy patches from weak individual threads
