I bought a Live Bivy emergency sleeping bag as a backup because I figured I wouldn't need it on my hike. At night the actual temperature was lower than I expected and my 20 degree sleeping bag didn't keep me warm. After a slight tremor I decided to take the Life Bivy out of the box and then put it on top of my sleeping bag. I got warm immediately. It was a wonderful feeling to be able to sleep in warmth. Get one of these and forget about expensive sleeping bags that promise to work in cold temperatures.
