I was traveling in China a few years ago and met a few people in my tour group who mentioned that they brought their own extension cords, which I thought was a great idea so I didn't only when traveling are there sometimes limited sockets, you only need an adapter. Fast forward to last summer when I wanted to go to Italy. I knew I wanted to bring an extension cord, but I knew I couldn't just bring an old one from home, so I spent hours researching and reading reviews. I finally stumbled across this one and it was PERFECT for many reasons. One, with three forks, was a good size for my family of three. I wouldn't mind more forks but for travel it would add extra weight so three was enough to be useful without being bulky. It might still be too big for light travelers (tourists), but I only had one bag for a month's trip and had no problems with it. Second, it is a double tension. Keep in mind this is not a converter so you may still need a converter but it came in handy for me as I could use it for whatever I wanted to plug in without worrying about the voltage dropping. Sometimes, for example, I like to move the lamp to use the socket next to the bed for the phone. Thanks to the dual voltage, I can do that no matter what country I'm in. Third, forks are universal! This is SUPER convenient as you only need one adapter for the entire band. And you can also plug in any items you want to use from the country you're visiting (like lamps, which I like to carry around!). You may have an adapter so you can use your items with sockets abroad, but most likely you don't have an adapter that will allow you to use items from that country with your plugs. So you don't have to worry. Fourth, it has surge protection, which is important since I use it to charge my expensive electronics. The size/number of plugs/surge protectors essentially make it good for travel, but its dual voltage and universal plugs make it particularly useful for international travel, making it easy to adapt to any country. I'll admit I don't know much about amps and such, but I've had no problem charging many devices at once, including phones and my laptop. For me, this product met all my many needs (and at a decent price!) so I highly recommend it!
