Uses 3M type double sided tape to ensure it sticks and stays in place, but I haven't stored it long enough to see how it would perform with extended use. In this way, it kicks, lifts and tilts your laptop. The problem is that the hinge has no real locking/safety function, so it's not stable, and if you move the laptop while the leg is hooked, the hinge will collapse and the laptop will fall to the tabletop. I tore off the tape - well, destroyed it, removed it and sent it back. I'm hoping they add some sort of stability/locking mechanism to the hinge. So I don't recommend buying it unless you hate your laptop and need your work to get a new one.
