They are mainly used for cookies. However, I use them in a pottery workshop. The pieces snap together to form the initials, dates, or words you need. Much nicer than using individual letters because you know they are perfectly straight since they are attached. I stamp my initials and the year on the base of my pottery. This is clearly visible after the shot. I wiggle the attached string of letters back and forth a bit to get a clear print. As you roll out and cut out your cookie cutters, chill the dough for a few minutes before pressing your kids' names, "Happy Birthday," or whatever, into the cookies. If you also store it in the fridge afterwards, the print will be better preserved.
