Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Retro-Bit Official Sega Genesis USB Controller: Arcade Pad for Sega Genesis Mini, Switch, PC, Mac, Steam, RetroPie, Raspberry Pi - Clear Blue by Ricky Lahoti

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not "like " a Genesis controller, it's a Genesis controller.

I was a Sega kid in the 16-bit and 32-bit days and loved the original 6-button Genesis controllers and the Saturn controllers. To that end, there have been some troubles in the post-console years, with controllers attempting to emulate the "home style" of Sega tablets failing in many, if not all, aspects. When word got out that Retro-bit would be working with Sega to create new pads based on the original plans, I was initially skeptical. However, after receiving it, I found that it was the same 6-button pad that I reverted to watch after watch. The D-Pad buttons and face buttons have the same sharpness in action that I remember and the added shoulder buttons, though not exactly the same. superb, like a Saturn, fully functional and of course much better than the "mode" button on the original. The USB-A connector is connected with a fairly long and strong cable, so you don't have to worry about twisting it, which is very good. Not really a complaint considering this whole drawing is the accuracy of the original, but as it turns out my hands have grown quite a bit over the past 25 years, so the ergonomics are both good and uncomfortable, if that matters. Meaning. Compatibility extends more or less to any PC game or emulator you might be using, as Directinput and its more standardized current Xinput counterpart are supported and can be toggled easily by holding down the start button for a few seconds. Retro Bit did well. , this is a great controller for 2D gaming and fighting games and I look forward to continuing their Sega partner line.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Good, but not great
