The Edelbrock #1400 carburetor has no lead in the intake manifold!

The Edelbrock #1400 carburetor (not the 1406 or others in the 1400 series) is your FUEL EFFICIENT carburetor! This is important to note and not clear in Revain's product descriptions I think. I just discovered this fact after days of scratching my head trying to figure out why it reads zero vacuum at what I thought was the manifold vacuum port. It has no vacuum in the manifold! In contrast to all other Edelbrock carburetors, the connection on the right is not a manifold vacuum connection, but a second vacuum connection. THIS IS IMPORTANT as most hot rodders agree that a vacuum manifold should be used to provide vacuum to the manifold, not a port vacuum, and they now refer to a port vacuum as a 40 year old emission control bug. "For maximum engine performance, drivability, idle cooling and efficiency in a road car, you need a vacuum valve connected to full manifold vacuum. Absolutely. Positive. Don't ask Summit or Jeg about it - they don't understand. , they have orders, and they want to sell "race car" parts. It works fine, although I wonder if it would be better to idle and start "offline" if I had manifold vacuum hooked up to the exhilarating vacuum forerun. Engine - SBC 350.
