This is a great starter set for young children. The paper is pre-printed, so if you're making a dog, for example, its face will be printed exactly where it's supposed to be. When you build a house, the imprint of the roof is where the roof is. This is great for young children as I think origami doesn't always appeal to young children as the bird is meant to LOOK like a bird and not a flower etc. I do however enjoy using this set with my beautiful Japanese origami paper print. not with the attached papers. Although I like the book because I'm new to it. I'm really good at making paper cranes, but I was looking for a beginner's book with a wide variety of items to try. It's really geared towards little kids and the folds are easy. Also paper cranes are not included here because it would be too difficult to bend them. So this is a very easy origami that doesn't require much skill but is still fun. And I can even fold an elephant's trunk backwards. However, my teenage daughter finds the set fun and loves the children's drawings and instructions. She thinks it's cool to make a dog out of origami paper or a Christmas tree out of origami paper for a Christmas tree. So it appeals to older kids too and I expect she'll find more fun things to do as it's very easy for older kids and adults. The paper was 6" square, not 5.5". Still a good set - the instructions are easy to understand, the paper is beautiful. Very good. Recommended for all children and some adults.
