A lot of people said it better than me and I'd just say it again if I tried. Suffice it to say that you will never be disappointed when you buy the best. I had two Osters (one from the 70's which I would probably keep if the jug was still available, a newer beehive variety that was horribly loud) and a new Breville. The Breville itself was good, but the blade construction and difficulty in cleaning left a lot to be desired. It was quite powerful but overheated at times. Then I stopped fooling myself with smaller offers and ventured into Vitamix. man whats the difference. Insanely powerful, durable (REALLY durable), incredibly adept at blending anything and everything, and seemingly indestructible. I was concerned that because it had so much energy it would also be high on the decibel scale. nope Very happy with this blender and yes it is expensive. But the quality is worth it.
