Waterproof?: Full car covers

The first thing I did after putting the cover on was spray it with water from a hose to see how well it repels water. Guess what? All the water went through the lid as if it wasn't there. How the hell can you call that "waterproof"? Totally disappointed because that's why I paid over $100 for a truck cover in the first place! So I can leave my truck outside!
