Review on πŸ₯„ 5-Quart Stainless-Steel Colander by OXO Good Grips - Silver by Ruth Reyes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Manual cleaning can be difficult

I needed a replacement for my metal ceramic coated screen. I needed a replacement because my current colander had plastic pads on the handles that wore out over time and the handles were very wobbly. We have a ceramic coated sink and the strainer I had sits on a metal ring which leaves marks on the sink until the next time it is cleaned with abrasive sink cleaners. I also didn't like that sometimes there was some sort of negative suction on the bottom stand causing water to get stuck and not drain well. There were about five sets of holes grouped together in different parts, requiring the screen to be rotated to fully drain the contents. hits the mark in every way, it has no handles, it has a lot of holes that merge very quickly without any problems and it has plastic feet so there are no traces in the sink. My only complaint is that when washing my hands, the edges of the holes aren't clean enough, so it's like trying to wash a cheese grater against the grain (she chews on my sponge). Another little thing not to worry about but worth noting, I was expecting it to be heavier. I thought it would be lighter than my ceramic-coated metal screen, but it feels more like an aluminum weight than steel. To be honest I'm not sure how to tell if it's steel or aluminum without doing some sort of physical test. To be honest I don't really care as long as it keeps its shape, doesn't dent easily and doesn't start to fade. I'll try to use it with that and hope it doesn't stain. UPDATE: It's been in the dishwasher dozens of times with no ill effects, which is why it now goes in the dishwasher every time it's used. a bit annoying but looks like new.
