There were several reviews condemning this product. I can now tell you they are wrong, wrong, wrong! I have a Porter Cable 7346 6 foot grinder. Professional carpenter with 35 years of experience. I sort of retired 2 years ago, but once a carpenter is always a woodworker. I have two bed orders that I need to finish this week. I normally use air grinders, but since retiring I have sold most of my industrial equipment. I saved the Porter Cable Grinder and bought a regular hook and loop pad here on Amazon. While dragging the first bed, I figured I'd better get a second pillow in case the first one failed (I didn't want to get caught with my pants down). I saw this product when I ordered a backup. pillow. I said interesting, read some reviews and said heck it's only $14. I received it the next day and it was a miracle. It was wonderful that the grinder stopped bouncing around in my hand and slid like velvet across the wood surface. I was buzzing about both beds in no time. In the middle of work I decided to order two more if this one didn't suit me. It's a kind of spongy composite that only 3M can pull off. Anything that spins thousands of rpm will eventually break, but not knowing what they give I figured I'd buy spares. I was hesitant because of the reviews. The beds I finished totaling about $8,000. I could do 3 to 4 of these things and it would still save me from grinding. One will last me through both jobs and is probably good for 2 to 4 more before being replaced. The only conclusion from bad reviews is operator error. Grinders should not be used as grinders and too much pressure will cause something to tare. The weight of the grinder and light to moderate hand pressure. Let the sander and sandpaper do their job. Under high pressure there is only a container with the product, sandpaper and sander. I don't usually do reviews because the bad reviews on this product are so misleading I thought I fixed it. I have built and polished thousands of products for my work and in my opinion this product is beautiful. Thank you 3M
