This is a fairly simple timer that will power three different lights or devices. It features a photoelectric timer that activates three outputs when it detects a certain level of darkness, and you can set it to turn off at dawn, or after 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours. It also has a remote control that turns everything on or off with the push of a button. I bought this timer to control two lighted Christmas trees on my doorstep. One issue I have with this timer is that there is a small covered alcove next to my front door, which because it's closed tends to be a bit darker than the rest of the outside world. Unfortunately, two trees are in an alcove, as is this timer. This means that the timer will detect dusk 1-2 hours earlier than it "should". I compensated for this somewhat by setting the duration to 8 hours. Even if the two trees are lit at 3:30 p.m., they stay on until almost midnight. Sometimes I use the inner delete control to turn off the light before going to bed. Bottom line: This timer works fine, but if you want it to turn on at dusk, make sure you plug it in where it's exposed to the 'true' outside light level. It probably goes without saying, but the timer doesn't know what time it is; it only knows how much light it sees.
