Review on Denali 7-1/4 Inch 68 Tooth Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blade - 5/8 Inch Arbor | Amazon Brand by Russ Conrad

Makes smooth clean cut in short time

Yesterday, 1-31-22, I received this Denali 7-1/4 inch blade. It came well packaged in an Walmart plastic envolope and well protected inside a box with foam and in a plastic bag. I compared the sharpness to a regular 7-1/4 inch Plywood cutting saw blade and it didtn't seem to be too sharp. Of course, it may not necessarily have to be as sharp as the regular plywood blade, but I just thought it would give me an idea of the sharpness of the carbide tips. I found out how sharp it is for metal cutting when I cut a 1 inch hollow tube that has 1/16" thichness and it cut through it smoothly and rather fast, compared to the diamond coated blade or a cutoff wheels I've used. The cut was very smooth and I compared it to a tube (Pic) where I had used a diamond coated blade. It's definitely is a much better choice when you need accurate cuts. I used the blade in a Makita circular saw that I have and the 5/8 inch arbor was just right. The fit was nice and tight, which helps to prevent the blade from wobbling. This blade is meant to better suited for thin metal, however out of curiosity, I used it to cut a 1/2 inch solid steel (mild steel) rod and it did cut it, but took much longer to cut it. The blade appeared to have been dulled so I did another cut on a piece of 1-inch tube and it still cut easily, smoothly and about the same speed as the first cut, so it did retain it's sharpness. In my opinion, this blade is a really good choice for cutting thin and/or mild steel, such as metal tubing used for wrought iron fences or if you're making a barbeque pit with plate metal, etc. Use a good powerful circular saw, it'll likely make a difference in cutting speed and smoothness.
