CableIQ doesn't have proper PoE detection (passive/802.3af/at) despite Fluke's marketing claim that the device supports it. According to Fluke's TAC, this device was designed and released when PoE technology was in its infancy. So if the tester is plugged into an Ethernet outlet with PoE enabled, CableIQ will beep with an on-screen message to immediately disconnect the cable, otherwise the device will be permanently damaged if plugged in within 2 hours. 5 minutes. Aside from the PoE fiasco, CableIQ scores well on qualifying Cat5e/Cat6 cables, achieving rated speeds (1Gbps, 100Mbps, 10Mbps), and measuring crosstalk and impedance in Cat5e/Cat6 cables good off.
