Improved but still not great

I'll give a comparison for those who have also looked at earlier devices, especially 7x0 models. 2x5 devices have a faster processor, and routing and menus are noticeably faster. The display is cleaner too, showing miles per hour on the main screen. Compared to the relatively mature 760, it's MUCH more stable, probably due to fewer (useless) features. As mentioned, the touchscreen isn't as good as the older 7x0 models and needs a firmer tap. Also, the display isn't as bright and voice prompts are distorted when turned on loud. The big problem for me was that it uses a completely different (probably cheaper) GPS receiver chipset. The 7x0 and very old GPS I have usually get a signal in about 1/2 minute and that's all I have the patience for when driving anywhere. It often took several minutes to report that it simply couldn't find GPS satellites. Sometimes, after a few tries (and probably 5 minutes), I'd give up waiting by stopping at the curb. It's possible to just run a simulation where it "drives" for you and shows you the route, but that defeats the purpose of GPS. Lastly, it's annoying that there's no way to include a particular highway or road if it's leading you down a suboptimal path. It is possible to add a waypoint that is a crossing, but in most cases it looks something like this: a) Enter the city, everything is ok, click Next, everything is ok, click you click next, c) enter the street name of the exit, finds it correct, click next and d) it says it's invalid! It happens over and over. I have found that the only way to get around this is to cancel the navigation, go to the map view, scroll, explore and explore the area and find another local junction which I hope you will is valid. Then go back and use this crossing. Of course it then takes you off the Autobahn to that other waypoint, which obviously isn't a suitable workaround. I'm giving two stars because of the price and it's a step in the right direction, but I was very disappointed. with this highly rated article.
