Review on Dorman 47076 Vacuum Amplifier: Ultimate Performance Enhancement Solution by Adrian Garcia

Good product! Used to fit the air conditioning vent on my 2000 Ford Van

Dorman HELP! 47076 Vacuum Reservoir Unit was used to fix my van as the air conditioning only came out of the standard defrost vents. It comes with its own internal check valve and no other parts are needed to get your air conditioner working again. NO hose cutting is required. Thanks to Rednecks on YouTube, you can disconnect the red line (wrapped) that is just behind the oil filler neck. Remove the kennel, route the disconnected line back into the van. Remove the screw on the passenger side of the engine cover near the top. Use an awl or small screwdriver through the bolt hole to push the motor insulator. Peel off some of the black plastic insulation that you can trim off later. Disconnect the connector on the red hose and pull it through the removed screw hole. (It's tricky to remove, but it comes off and re-inserts after threading it through the bolt hole.) This end fits perfectly into the large port on Dorman. On the passenger side of the cab there are two hoses on the right, white and black. Black goes through the firewall. Tilt the bushing that goes through the wall of fire, pull it in a bit and separate it from the "other" side. This side fits perfectly with the smaller port on the Dorman. Light this pup and notice that air now escapes through the vents! The Dorman fits on the right hand side under the dash where you have to slide it slightly through a couple of wires where it stays. Made! No cuts or other details. Ignore the dead ends of the old hose. The hardest part was taking the kennel off, which is made easier by the fact that the outer plastic cover just pops off giving you more room to get the pig out of the way.

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
