What I don't like about QNAP. Great service and great product. I use it for NAS, as a Plex media server and for virtualization. If you get it for iTunes server capabilities, NOT. It does not work as an iTunes movie server. QNAP keeps updating its firmware, so features like backup, snapshot backup, etc. keep improving. I liked that I could dedicate an SSD for virtualization. Hot Spare RAID 6 is awesome. It can email you if there's a problem, etc. It's the most comprehensive NAS I've ever used. It is great for home and small business use as a file server. Everyone I've recommended it to has been happy with it. I recently installed Plex Server on my QNAP (installed as QPKG - just point and click). Then I pointed directly at my film. Plex grabbed the titles of all my movies and looked at their posters. Errors have occurred, but can be corrected manually. I was then able to install Plex (the viewer) on my Apple TV and was presented with a selection screen for us to view our library of movies. One time I had to reinstall Plex, which resulted in me (re)renaming movies that were misnamed. QNAP would have helped by calling tech support, but it was the weekend and I didn't want to worry. All in all, these are great servers. You can try to save some money by upgrading the memory yourself. If that's the case, be sure to check the models to see which ones allow more memory, as not all allow it. I wouldn't use anything else for a home NAS. For an enterprise NAS, look no further than QNAP! Great for movies too!
