Most of us buy new knives instead of sharpening the existing ones (probably because we didn't buy the best set to begin with). Pros of buying new: 1) Variety is usually nice/refreshing 2) Saves time as no sharpening is required 3) Knives are sure to be sharp - using a sharpener takes a bit of getting used to. Please note that an easy way to sharpen scissors is to steal wood, even an SOS pad (it works :). Once I tried to sharpen knives but it didn't work. However, these knives are fun, bright, and likely to make great replacements for the knives you currently have in your drawer. They are EASY TO HOLD / HANDLE and are very sharp. Love the added security of the finger guard/visor (finger notch with protective coating so finger doesn't slide forward easily). Haven't tried a fruit/vegetable peeler yet, but since my current one is boring, I'll definitely try it when I get a chance. The ones I've tried are great. TWO WISHES: 1) That the cheese and pizza cutter could be replaced with another paring knife or utility knife 2) That they ALL come in the same color
