Good (Updated) - Pedals and Cleats

So far so good. I recently switched from using SPDs to them. They grip well and are wide enough (shoe size 13). I rode quite a bit before leaving, just enough that one of the pedals (can't remember which one) started playing in the pedals a bit. I decided to take them apart to see what's what. Here's the scoop, they're a bushing and sealed bearing combination, it's hard to explain unless you do the same thing and remove the spindle from the pedal body. In short, both the hub and the sealed bearing require no adjustment - the bolts that make up the pedal are fully tightened (you can't over-tighten, for example). To control play, I filled the area around the hub with Phil's lube (about a lot) and put everything back together. It's been gold ever since - that includes insanely dry desert conditions, plus more than 30 miles every day since coming back. My only major complaint is the pens. (I'm picky - I've ridden the best bike ever to and from skate parks around the world a lot (FBM y'all). I'm sure my feet will be STUCK unless I choose otherwise.) Like this guy on named after Grant. , I use them with Tevas (and sometimes with socks). Here they've gotten less stubborn lately (the pins on top are shiny silver). although.
