Review on Hurtta Torrent Coat Raincoat Cherry by Elizabeth Lewis

I bought this coat for my male border collie who likes to play in the rain. The coat is very well constructed to keep the dog fully covered and dry. It also protects the dog's front belly and chest from dirt and water while leaving the back of the belly exposed when nature calls. The coat has a button at the back to fasten it under the dog's tail and two elastic straps that wrap around the dog's hind legs to prevent the coat from sliding back and forth off the dog's back. My favorite border collie wears it. It is very easy to put on a coat. You simply place it on the dog's head, lower the flap under the belly and fasten the belt. He can run free, play, and sneak around in a raincoat. The fabric is good quality, the coat is fully lined and I love that there is a hole for a dog wearing a harness. The collar of the coat can be turned back or turned up to cover the dog's neck. I had to return the original coat and order a different size as the first coat was too small. I deviated from the provided size chart when ordering this coat and yes I measured my dog correctly with a real tape measure. My rim is large and very long in body, but it does not have a broad chest or belly. I didn't measure around my chest because I wanted to make sure the strap was secure. I have other hem coats that could cover his back but the tie to fasten the coat around his stomach was too big. According to the size chart and my dog's chest measurement, my border requires a size of 18 inches. If I were to go by his height, he would need a height of 26 inches. So there is a big size difference. I ordered a size between two sizes, 22 inches, and that size didn't cover his body very well. Then I ordered 26 inches and that size fit him much better, AND the strap fit just enough to fit around his stomach. . It's nice to know that the belly strip on larger coats makes for a much smaller size for dogs that don't have a large chest.
