I wanted a rain cover for my pug with a hole in the back to attach a harness. I found based on the reviews that this one seemed to have that option and was the best fit. In practice, the opening of the head and neck fits my pug snugly, although the length is ideal. I have a German Shepherd and wanted a raincoat for hiking when it rains or snows. We live in Colorado and the weather is unpredictable. Although my dog loves water, I don't like a wet and smelly dog! I bought this coat for my male border collie who likes to play in the rain. The coat is very well constructed to keep the dog fully covered and dry. It also protects the dog's front belly and chest from dirt and water while leaving the back of the belly exposed when nature calls.
