Review on 🌑️ Kizen Waterproof Digital Meat Thermometer: Ideal Tool for Perfect Cooking, BBQ, Grilling, Baking, and Outdoor Food Preparation by Nikki Huang

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I changed it and voided my warranty hours after receiving it.

I have read all of the negative reviews on Revain and have come to the conclusion that this is a fault I need to address before using my new thermometer. There are a couple of small protrusions that the metal probe has to pass through when the thermometer closes in order to turn it off and store it. I used my wife's nail file and carefully removed the protrusions so they wouldn't touch the probe when the device was folded for power off and storage. The tabs are probably not even needed since the friction of the hinge keeps the probe in the closed (off) position. The engagement of the probe with the lugs is a likely contributor to probe mounting hinge failure and probe tip failure. I also think the manufacturer should revise their packaging and instructions. The body of the thermometer is not waterproof, and the instructions that come with it warn against full immersion in liquids. I've had kitchen thermometers with probes from other brands for many years, and I've found them to last for years if you simply wipe the probe with a damp cloth to rid the metal of any food debris. If you dip the probe past the hinge point and water gets into the metal probe, these things will be killed if not kept dry. So far I like the thermometer because it responds quickly, the readings are clear and easy to read, the design and features are everything a chef loves about cooking. My suggestion of only wetting the metal part of the temperature sensor should allow customers to enjoy their Kizen for years. I hope mine holds up as well.
