This item was a lifesaver. I have a Tahoe 5.3L and had a horrible AFM lifter failure - when the engine went back to 8 cylinder mode from 4 cylinder mode one of the lifters became stuck causing a misfire (check engine light code P0300 , Stabilitrak Warning, Engine Runs very rough, strong smell of gasoline.Confirmed the problem was in the cylinder 1 tappet by replacing coil packs and injectors.The shop offered $3,800 to open the head and replace the lifters or swap out the motor for about $3,000 I bet it has to do with the AFM system as the elevator only got stuck intermittently and luckily I was right I hooked up the range extender and now the truck is working fine. Of course my mileage has dropped a bit since I can't drive in 4 cylinder mode on the highway, but it saved me a lot of money to keep the engine running.
