Slightly more comfortable to use than a regular scoop but does NOT get hot enough to scoop without resistance. Your hand will heat it slightly, but the ice will quickly cool the ball. You can actually feel the pen cool down as you use it. So it's better than a regular spoon, but don't expect it to carry ice cream with ease.
