Review on πŸ₯š RSVP International Stainless Steel Egg Slicer by Casey Estrada

BLUNT WIRES - STRENGTH - STAINLESS STEEL BETTER THAN ALUMINUM

I bought this at a local kitchen supply store for a dollar over $11.95 from Revain. I wanted quality because I was tired of the egg slicer's dangling wires that would easily cling to the egg holder and often break. I DID NOT WANT ALUMINUM because aluminum and dish soap don't mix well and aluminum loses. This RSVP Endurance Slicer is well made of durable stainless steel. There are no sharp edges anywhere. It works very well as an egg slicer. Look carefully at the picture. You will notice that the part of the holder furthest from the axis is raised higher than the side closest to the axis, no doubt to prevent the eggs from slipping off the wire when cutting. Good design idea. That's the catch, at least that's what I thought at first before buying the device. This raised portion, combined with the roundness of the slicer, means this may not work if you prefer the egg slices to come out egg-shaped rather than the usual round shape. So I deliberately cut the first few hard-boiled eggs that way. Result: no problems; The slicer works perfectly regardless of the cutting direction. How about the thickness of the slices? Over the years I've found that slicers vary in the thickness of the slices. There are eight wires strung together with 1-5/8 inch spacing between #1 and #8 in case you want a comparison to your current slicer. I'm happy with the thickness, which is a decent thickness for mushrooms too. However, some slicers have 10 wires, resulting in a thinner slice; You might prefer one of these, although I suspect the 10 wire might have fungal issues. How about mushrooms for this slicer? It works great in most cases. When the slicer is closed, the wires extend far enough behind the portion of the egg/mushroom holder to ensure a clean cut, allowing you to remove the egg or mushroom without snagging part of it on the small piece at the bottom of the holder keep. When cutting the mushroom stem, remember that the wires don't have to be perpendicular to the stem axis, as you'll have trouble with any wire cutter at that angle. Point your foot up and you'll be fine. If you are looking for a good and cheap digital kitchen scale, check out my reviews of two different brands that are identical except for the price!
