Review on πŸ’ Efficient Blue Ox BX88206 Coiled Cable with Female Receptor: The Perfect Connection Solution by Jeremy Keller

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor trailer accessory design

The plug on the cable has a small protrusion that hooks under a hinged cover on the socket on the vehicle and holds this together for a good electrical connection so road vibrations don't occur Don't disconnect them. I needed a new cable because the outer jacket of the cable is cracking/peeling. My original coiled cable that I bought from the Blue Ox factory in 2015. It has a metal pin connector. This link worked fine. The Revain image of the Blue Ox replacement cable shows the same metal connector. However, the newer version I received has plastic plugs that stick to the cable. When I first plugged the cable's new plug into the socket on my tractor, the small plastic tab on the plug side came loose/broke. Now there is no way to block the connection together. I also noticed that the new plastic plug is slightly smaller than the original metal plug, so it doesn't fit tightly in the socket. The new molded system may seal the device better (which I've never had an issue with), but the use of plastic in this tiny but important part is a design flaw.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • dull packaging
