They look useless and ridiculous thanks to the palette sliding mechanism. I'm sure I looked through them many times before purchasing. But it turns out that they work well, and with 42 colors used, this is very advantageous. The picture shown was drawn with watercolor and pen with permanent ink. I still haven't gotten used to the color legend at the end of the slides. Basically, I was down to making quick strokes of color on another sheet of paper. There was a moment when I was trying to lift a color and it wasn't lifting the way I wanted it to. However, the transparency was very good and I was able (for example) to put some gray over the previous colors to add shadows. Adding green (trees) and red (bricks) on top of each other also worked well. Watercolor can be picky and correcting mistakes (e.g. with oils) is not that easy. But if you can layer later colors and get good results without resorting to dirt or chalk, it makes things a lot easier.
