Review on πŸ₯‘ PROfreshionals Deluxe Avocado Slicer Tool: Effortlessly Pit, Slice, Scoop, Cube, or Dice Your Avocados, Green by Sarah Gonia

Decent Avocado Slicer

I have a second OXO avocado slicer - the first one broke trying to slice an unripe avocado (my bad one). OXO is made of hard molded plastic. When I got the chance to try this one I thought the metal version would be much better. In some ways it's better, but in some ways not so much. First, OXO has a feature that lets you cut an avocado in half before you start working on the insides. First you need to cut the avocado in half with a knife. Where this PROfreshionals slicer wins is with the flexible spoon. With help you can compress it to the right size to extract the core/seed and also extract the fruit from the peel. You can easily cut the fruit and immediately remove it from the skin, just like with the OXO tool. . However, you can also use only the forked part to first cut the skin into the avocado and then remove it. Or even use the forked part after scooping out the fruit to slice or dice. One thing I have trouble with from time to time is that when you scoop the fruit out of the skin, the scoop cuts through the skin, requiring more work to remove the skin. . This problem keeps me from digging too deep when shoveling, which leaves the fruit on the skin, which I then have to scrape back off to get everything. Maybe with more use I'll get a better feel for how to gently scoop it out the first time without cutting through the skin. But then again, some avocados have thinner skins, so this can still be an issue. Bottom line is I love it, it's decent and does the job, it's just not quite the 5 star ideal.
