This bucket and pump have been installed for two years now. I installed it outside in my yard to keep groundwater out of my pool and garden. I also routed two of the three gutters at the back of my house directly into the sump. To date it works perfectly. I permanently installed it in a 1.5" PVC-40 joint that I buried in the ground and diverted the water to the street outside my house. No more floating pool or flooded patio liner. Pumps a lot of water for such a small pump! Advice. I clean and oil the derailleur every 6 months to keep it running smoothly. Thanks to the supplied flexible hose. It's fine for temporary use, but if it's being built into your home for flood control you really need to hook it up to PVC pipe and install a Wayne or Zoeller check valve.
