Useful tool best for dogs

This product works on my dog. However, the "positive tone” used for positive reinforcement is NOT positive for them! She's really concerned about this, so I don't use it as a "good job" signal. I only use a negative ultrasonic tone as she will start barking unnecessarily at neighbors walking past our door or at harmless street noise. I press the negative tone and say "quiet" at the same time. She doesn't like the sound that much, it gets her attention, she stops barking and then I praise her, pet her, sometimes give her a treat. Now she's starting to associate my "quiet" command with the sound, so she often just stops barking on command (which is my goal). You need to be very consistent and use it for any unwanted barking around the house whenever possible. I've started carrying the remote trainer with me at home, so at the first sign of unwanted barking I use a signal and a command. It took me about a week to get used to this, but I can see that it's starting to keep her barking at bay. I limit my use to a brief cadence as I can tell she doesn't like it and I hope it isn't too painful for her. I hope that with my diligence it will soon be so well trained that I don't have to use it at all. (FYI, this is just a tool for your home! You can't use it on walks, you'll "punish" other dogs nearby and may teach your dog to be afraid of approaching dogs or worse. My dog others barking at leashed dogs learning the "quiet" command at home might help, but not sure!)
