Update: WD doesn't guarantee OEM hard drives so I guess I bought a new one. I purchased this hard drive in April 2018 and had it professionally installed by Best Buy's Geek Squad. Now in January 2019 the hard drive has failed. I've been trying to see if it's covered under warranty but WD requires a serial number which means I have to pay Best Buy to open my laptop and help me get a serial number and then see whether WD will replace him, and then wait for everything. before returning to Best Buy to have a new one installed. All of this means I won't have a laptop for the next few weeks, which is extremely inconvenient as it's my only computer.
