A quick and easy way to measure turbidity on site

The NTU meter is a portable instrument for measuring the 'turbidity' of a water sample. This test is commonly used to measure suspended solids pollution of surface water. These suspended particles are the cause of turbidity. The NTU meter measures turbidity in nephelometric turbidity units (NTU). I have used this meter in the field to take water samples from streams and measure turbidity. It comes in a hard case, lightweight and durable. The case has a foam lining with cut-outs for all devices. The included battery cover screwdriver is slightly smaller than the screws. Be sure to read the instructions. They offer some tips to get stable readings: do not hold the meter in your hands, let it warm up, etc. The meter comes with silicone oil which is used to repair the microscopic scratches that form on the glass . The device is easy to maintain. use in the field. It's light and fast. The sample measurement takes about 15 seconds. The whole calibration process takes a few minutes if you choose to do it. The instructions don't state that this is required before every use - only if you are measuring the extreme NTU range for the meter.

Pros
  • Continuous measurement mode is available by pressing and holding the 'measure' button for 3 seconds
Cons
  • Expensive
