This mat takes longer to heat up than the ones I bought but it works. I used a heat gun to control the temperature and it took me half an hour to heat up to a stable 95 degrees Fahrenheit. I didn't wait any longer as that's the max temperature I need for my leopard gecko, but it's probably hotter than that. ALWAYS USE THE THERMOSTAT! iPower is inexpensive and works well. I chose this brand because of the size, most other brands are 8" x 6" which is too small for a 10 gallon tank (the heat mat should cover a third of the tank) and I wanted the wet one my gecko's skin it overlaps a bit. The disadvantage of being so thin is that you can damage it if you remove it from the aquarium after sticking it on, so it can only be used once. Fluker has no glue, you tape them in place so they can be reused.
