You get what you pay for (read the best of it below)

For about $10 it's not that bad. Almost every other AV analog to USB converter in the 10-20 price range seems to be this device. You'll get better quality if you get something $30 or more I think. If image quality and price aren't your concern, then this is a good buy. Just keep your expectations low. I didn't do anything with the software that came with it. Don't bother with this fully PNP (plug and play) enabled device. I recommend using OBS (Open Broadcast Software) for both streaming (old games) and simple recording (VHS). Be sure to switch your audio device to USB2.0mic or whatever it is called to record sound. Also, you may need to turn the volume down a lot in settings. By default it's pure noise, depending on how high it is. I have a much nicer analog/HDMI video capture device and the difference between this and this one is very noticeable. The brightness (brightness) value tends to blur to the right of the video field, causing severe blurring in high-contrast footage. Maybe some tweaking can help alleviate this, but I think it's mostly just a cheap design. However, there is one very good thing about this device. It tends to be fairly forgiving of the incoming signal. My nicer recorder was very picky about the few very bad VHS tapes I had. Therefore, the video stream was interrupted almost every second. This device stopped feeding much less often. So if you've already bought a more expensive analog recording device and just want something cheap and dirty for your troubled tapes, fine.
