Installing in place of a standard circuit breaker is no problem. So far this new AFCI switch hasn't worked with any of the things I've tried like vacuum cleaners, ceiling fans, tools, door openers. It fires with the check button as intended. I like the added reassurance that this now protects the most commonly used circuit in the home. Too bad GE doesn't make a two-pin version. GE makes a gray version of this switch with the exact same model number, but I think it's an older version. I made sure to buy the black version as it matches the rest of the switches on the panel. The gray version has a longer, stranded pigtail with thicker insulation.
