Chain broke on first ride (not quick link)

Overall I have had good experiences with KMC chains but this is definitely not one of those experiences. My apologies for not being able to share the photo with everyone, but the chain broke during the first ride when I was checking the initial gear settings. It didn't break at the quick connect but at the rivet. I didn't put too much stress on the transmission at the time either. It's VERY likely that I just got stuck in a faulty circuit. It's probably some kind of quality control issue and I'm pretty sure most of these circuits are fine. However, in all my years of cycling and building bikes, I've never come across anything like this, so it's definitely something to be aware of. the transmission I use. Again, this is likely due to a circuit fault, but it's worth noting. At this price point, be sure to spend a few dollars less (SRAM 1130) or a few dollars more (SRAM 1170, any 11 speed Shimano or Campagnolo). I just can't get over what happens during the first trip, no fast connection. To me, that screams quality control issues. I do not recommend this. Hooray!

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Not the best
