USB-C is a complex protocol and apparently more complex than I thought. My intention with this adapter was to allow me to charge different devices with different USB-C chargers. Instead, I found a bewildering mix of permutations, some of which don't work uniquely with this adapter. Obviously, this is not just a pass, but must somehow limit the allowable charge. Specifically, I want to charge my MacBook Pro and iPhone X. I have a large Apple 87W charger and a small Anker 30W GAN charger. I use Apple USB-C to USB-C charging cable. Any combination will work until I have this adapter. When I use an Anker charger with an Apple USB-C to USB-C cable on this USB-C to Lightning Cable Adapter to my iPhone X, it will NOT charge. However, replace the Anker charger with an Apple 87W charger and the iPhone X will charge. Connect a USB-C to Lightning cable to Anker and your iPhone X will start charging. Your MacBook Pro will charge from any charger through this adapter. I can't figure out what the difference is, but there is a difference. The only reason I bought this adapter is to be able to charge my iPhone X or MacBook with a small Anker charger. But it doesn't work. If I don't use an adapter, it works. Therefore it is worthless to me what I wanted to use it for. My guess is that there is a log that states what voltages it supports and it doesn't go through all the options that Anker states. Or poor electrical contact.
