I had one slow leak a week on my truck. Recently, for a dollar a day, this has become a liability. I thought it was time to track him down. After pulling the bell off and praying it wasn't my rear main, I was relieved to see that most of the leak was in the filter housing and oil pan gasket. The included pads themselves appear to be very well made and built to last. super fat Other than user error, I don't see any error. (fingers crossed) I've always used Felpro pads and no complaints. Since my car is a 4x4, I won't lie. It was a task. But don't let that put you off. I did this with hand tools, a torque wrench, ramps and a jack. To put it simply (disclaimer, don't blame me if you get it wrong), the way I did it to the engine in the car WITHOUT removing the front differential was to remove the exhaust pipe. , inspection cover, skid plate, two support rods leading to the inspection cover, 2 engine mounting bolts, oil dipstick tube and radiator fan shroud. (I also removed the starter, you may not need to do this but feel free, it's probably covered in oil anyway.) The two support rods that lead from the block to the inspection cover MUST be removed to save time. You can do this with them, but you will be fighting them all the time. Save yourself the hassle. In any case. Once you've removed all of this, raise the motor by supporting it with a piece of wood or something to raise the motor with the harmonic balancer. Tilt the engine all the way down before you pinch the heater hoses or the transmission hits the oil pan. This will give you enough clearance to remove the pan. Now unscrew the oil filter housing and move it to the side so you can access all the pan screws. Turn away bolts of 10 and 13 mm, clear interfaced surfaces. I've used rtv on the block and the pan spread the pad evenly and thinly (have done it this way for years and no leaks) and smeared the thicker traditional bead on the corners where the front and rear main "humps" unite Forming angles on the pad (4) Tighten the screws with your fingers, trying not to push out too much RTV. Let this RTV sit at least overnight before tightening to specification (7lbs on 10mm and 18lbs on 13mm). REMEMBER TO REUSE THE METAL BRACKETS to evenly tighten the screws. Once everything is in place, use the included oil filter housing gaskets and bolt them on (the old paper gasket may need to be scraped off the filter housing first). ) Collect everything you took off and wow! No more dirty driveways. Okay, that was a general run, but you get the idea. Just be extra clean and take your time. The assistant tightened a few screws while I held the pan. honey cool though.
