What a great idea this tool is. Unfortunately, that didn't work for me on a 200-mile bike ride through the Rocky Mountains. from falling out, but not so much that I couldn't remove them with my hands on the street. I ended up getting it there, but it would be too easy to accidentally and permanently cut them and have them fall out while driving. I left mine a little too tight, so I use the edge of a closed pocket knife along the way to get them out. After pulling and reinserting it a few times, I noticed STRONG damage to the rubber bushing where it connects to the end cap. Definitely a concern for durability. I wouldn't expect it to last very long. Maybe I wasn't careful enough or something. MY SCENARIO 1: SEATPACK MOUNTI used a Revelate Spinelock seat with a separate saddle clip. It kept moving off the rails of my Brooks B17 saddle, so I used an EnCase wrench with the included T25 bit a few times to tighten it back up. The problem was that the small parts held by the magnets kept falling out while I was trying to get the T25 bolts out. They're tiny, so I combed through the dirt and grass to find them. The magnets are not strong enough in actual use. You need to be careful when using the key handle SUPER so they don't fall out. MY SCENARIO 2: BROKEN CHAIN While driving, my chain broke while climbing a hill. I drove to the bank and removed the EnCase tools from the handlebars. I used hex wrenches to loosen 6 bolts on my fancy salsa dropouts so I could tighten the chain. I dropped the wrench once and half the bit flew off the wrench handle in all directions when it hit the brick floor. I tracked them down. I used a chain tool to pry the pin out of the link so I could fit a new one, then found that there was no way to put the pin back in with the same tool to break the chain. (Most have 3 channels to adjust the chain link, but this tool only has 2.) I've tried everything I can think of. Let the chain arm flex a bit to make more room, remove the tool thread push pin to make more room, but nothing worked. Finally, a tour mate of mine had a Topeak multi-tool that tripped a circuit breaker. Otherwise I would have gotten stuck. IT'S NOT ALL BAD • The rotating wrench head works great. Although I had some very tight bolts and was afraid I would snap this thing in half, it held plenty of torque without bending. Great materials • Fantastic concept • Bar ends have an aluminum feel and are very well finished • Of course the engineering here is definitely admirable. You can tell a lot of time has been spent on this setup. Hence the extra star. • No rattling, no "slipping" bar SUMMARY Didn't really like it but have too many issues to recommend it. I would like them to test this product more in the real world as these issues would surely arise. I'm waiting for version 2. In the meantime I'm going back to my old toolkit.
