Pretty good meat thermometer, easy to use. It comes with a built-in battery and works right out of the box. The thermometer should reach room temperature and then stick into the thickest part of the meat. This is one level higher than analog readers and one level lower than digital oven readers. If you need to recalibrate, you must put the reader on ice and then wait for it to reach room temperature to try again. It is designed to conserve battery power and will turn off after a minute if not in use. This is a good meat thermometer for what it offers, but I personally prefer an oven-safe thermometer.
